Some very deep pools but also a lot of spawning.

A good turnout of around 20-30 anglers for the annual Crieff Angling Club opening at Dornoch were treated to a wee dram by sponsors Grouse. The river was duly opened with just the slightest hint of whiskey splashing into the water..........its not to be wasted is it!! Well it wasn't long before the first of numerous kelts were caught...but no sign of a springer as yet. Encouraging to see quite a lot of kelts spashing around.............seems to have been a good spawning season and augers well. Heres hoping its tight lines for all this season.

Any sign of life yet? I had a wander down the river last saturday afternoon. It was as low as I have seen it but looks just about fishable now. Still only 2 springers on the books?

Tom was told at John Youngs open day by the baliffs that there were 5 springers that they know of that have been caught so far. Just waiting on you showing us how. Bob

Bob Bob, remember there was a lot of strong liquor consumed at Johns that day. Tall tales about tall men spring to mind. On your last point, are you really suggesting the blind should lead the blind?? ;D

Managed my first migratory out of the Earn this week, a nice solid wee sea troot of 2lb 8oz from the Crieff water. I was chatting to a lad who had a 5lb grilse - amazing considering the river was really on it's bones at the time. I've had a few biggish grayling including one on a tube fly They are in really good nick for June, maybe the hrad winter really suited them There is a wee bit more water now, so maybe things are looking up.
