I used to fish Lochlane years ago, but have been to Templemill every opening day for the past 15 years or so apart from about about 4 years ago when it was flooded out on the 15th ,had a lot of success both places .

Lochmor, How are you fishing for the grayling - fly or trotting? I catch plenty of grayling on the fly during the trout season at Templemill but only ever manage the odd fish during the winter with the trotting gear Norm

That confirms it then, I'm pants at this trotting lark It might be that you are fishing too shallow for them, they will have their heads down grubbing about the bottom . What I do is ,have a guess at the depth ,have a cast if am not touching bottom slip the float up six inches and try again, I keep doing this until I am happy I am dragging bottom . It is no use fishing at say 6ft when the fish are at 8 ft and you are fishing over their heads.
