Just thought that I would post these pictures of a 43" fish I caught on the Girvan in October. A few comments have been made suggesting that it might not be the genuine article and that it may have some Norwegian farm genes. I was on my own when I caught it so I was only able to take a few photos before it went back. Builnacraig

;D Deary me Brian, are you losing sleep over the origin of this fish? There is not a hint of farmed fish there! BUT, what was a big fish like that doing in the Girvan? Could it be a stray Lochy (Norwegian strain) monster?

No but I thought it would shut you up ;D ;D BUT, what was a big fish like that doing in the Girvan? Could it be a stray Lochy (Norwegian strain) monster? Why not? Big fish are not unknown in this part of the world, the Doon always produces a fishy or two in the high twenties, same with the Stinchar (well known for producing more big fish for a river of its size than any other)where there was one of 30lb this year.

How the heck did you get it in that wee net When I bought that net I thought it was way to big for the sort of fish I normally catch but it looked very small when I was playing the fish. Maybe due to luck or maybe it was just great skill and dexterity it went into the net beautifully and I could breathe a sigh of relief. BnC

Its a wild fish, its no seen a tide louse for a long time We had a 30lb cock fish a couple of weeks ago which was a good bit fresher than that, when weighed it made 30lb exactly on some digital scales which weigh to the ounce, anyway it was 43 inch long and had a girth of 23 inches and is now away to get a cast made of it as it was the rods fish of a lifetime. Came from the Tweed.
