A location would help,
Association water being as it is, your looking to fish it on the few days a year the "waters just right".
I wouldn't be traveling 150miles each way for association water, so something closer is a better choice, I'd say.
So where are you located?

jason
from my own point of view ,I used to stay in the central belt but am now in perth where we have perth and district anglers association and stormont angling association.
However if I was you I would be looking to get a season on either the mid clyde or the ucapa stretches of the river clyde which IMHO are both good value for money. Both these can get busy but you can usually get a quiet bit somewhere and winkle out a fish or two.
I used to have a season on the UCAPA stretch of the river and in my last season there had a week of 11 fish on the fly which isnt bad for an association water.
There are im sure other association beats on say the girvan or ayr which may be worthwhile looking into.
I hope this helps if you want any more info on the suggested beats let me know

perth and district have various lets on beats from the upper tay to the middle tay and right down to a stretch just above the tide. PDAA have a website which you can go into and have a look.I would be here all day if I was explaining how it all worked lol Have a wee look for yourself and then give me a shout if you want any more indepth advice. if I remember correctly its £165 first year then £140 thereafter thats 2010 /2011 prices

By the time you add on the cost of fuel for regular(weekly?) travel back and forward to, for example, the Tay then it will be an expensive season ticket.
Why not spend your season ticket cash on whatever combination of local rivers you fancy, Mid Clyde/UCAPA, Abercorn AC, Leven/Endrick and then supplement with the odd day trip elsewhere.
If you don't fancy any of your local rivers then Dryfeholm on Annan is another option for a season ticket, hour or so from Glasgow and a really nice bit of water. Opposite bank can be a bit busy at times. I'm sure some syndicate members post on here.

I fish Dryfeholm and would recomend it but you may have to go on the waiting list. Halleath is the other bank they may have some space.

There are also syndicated rods on the Tweed - one or two days a month or once a week if you can get it.
Only problem is that it ends just when the fish start to arrive in numbers.....
