The season visitor ticket on the Burgh Water on the Nith was reasonable this year.

Hi Jason, If you're willing to travel as far as a 250-300 mile round trip you've got quite a few options available to you. Off the top of my head:
River Forth: Around £250 I think per season, cheaper for locals. Good runs of fish but I've heard it can be combat fishing here at times.
River Teith: Similar pricing as the Forth, its only a short river but gets good runs of fish.
Lomond System: £180 gets you on the Leven, Endrick, Fruin and Loch Lomond. The Levens not everyones cup of tea and needs water due to the dam but the last season was decent. Fruin and Endrick are both lovely, fly only spate rivers.
Upper or mid Clyde: £70 a season ticket, it would be crazy not to at that price if its cheap fishing you're after. Good fishing, nice water, the best bits will be heavily fished but there must be areas where you can escape the crowds.
River Kelvin: £20 a season ticket. May well go up in price but still peanuts. I wouldn't fancy fishing near the city centre but I've heard there's lots of lovely water out towards Lennoxtown and Kirkintilloch which hardly gets fished. Plenty of fish off here in recent years.
Dig out a map of Central Scotland and see what systems stand out then google them, you'll be sorted within a morning. Also why not consider some cheaper fishing closer to home as well as a slightly more expensive ticket for a prolific river. For example you could buy a season ticket for the Cyde and the Kelvin for around £100 and a ticket for the Teith for a bit more, that way you've got loads of fishing open to you both close to home for weekday fishing and somewhere you can have a day out on a Saturday.
