I don't really fish for trout anymore but I used to fish the Isla a lot from Ruthven to Balbrogie farm used to be great for trout as well as the grayling.

Stevie, friends of mine went to the Frandy last saturday hoping to encounter some feisty overwintered rainbows. This is the scene that greeted them. www.frandyfishery.com/Mibees a tad early for the troots? They were asked to try again next saturday. ;D ;D

we always get fish on first day up the isla, all to your own And I'm sure that you will this year again , Stevie , but what kind of condition will they be in ? Not every fish spawns every year , but food must have been in short supply over this winter. So I think that there'll be some well out of condition fish for a good few weeks after opening day. Anyway , tight lines on your day out.
