I have read with interest the comments about using other material for the tail: marble fox, racoon dog etc. Fair enough, Im not dogmatic about these things. Ive had a go with some of them and I would prefer to fish with one made with runner any day. There is no science to this, simply a matter of confidence

Nice looking fly Ross.
Do you have or know of, any outlets that activley sell your flies or are doing good (in your eyes) copies of these?
Never seem to see them on sale, like you do the Ally's shripmp etc. Just a thought.

ive not seen a decent copy anywhere kenny
most of the ones i have seen make the tails too bulky.
helmie sells them, as does GAC and several others places, but the real deal can only be found in one place.

I've seen various versions for sale in the N East. However, none resemble the origial tying and the materials used vary - I've seen some PShimps with bucktail instead of arctic runner.
I've also seen one fly called the Durris Dee-mon which I can post pix of later which uses the same style minus the dubbed body.

It’s a nice fly alright but its still no Fiery Feugh!!!!!! ;D I've seen many a copy with the big busy tails. They just don’t look right. They will catch fish no doubt but they just don’t move the same way as the original. Thin and whispy!! I even tried tying them myself but the runner I had was pants so they didn’t turn out too well. I tried using the fine guard hairs of fox fur but still it lacks the same X factor… I did have a couple originals many moons ago but they all fell foul to rocks trees and toothy critters… Now where would I get some more...

Got to agree with the Arctic runner making a difference although some of the runner I have had was not really suitable(pitfalls of buying online). P.S Some shocking example of P/Shrimps on ebay they're not from your reject bin Macd are they

As noted above, here are the pix of the Durris Dee-mon. It's the only variant of the Park Shrimp I've seen but other may have seen different versions. The dressing is as follows: Thread - black Tail - Arctic Runner as Park Shrimp Rib - silver Body - red glo-brite # with mirage tinsel over leaving a section of floss which acts a tag like a Ness C Wing - black fox as in a Cascade Hackles - orange over yellow as in a Cascade Head - mirage tinsel (not pearl) finished as in a Flamethower Cheeks - JC The mirage tinsel under the hackles and over the glo-brite produces an interesting colour/shimmer effect Pix

I have used a number of different supplies of the Park shrimp but as original test pilot for these I can say that the Park shrimp flies Ross ties for me have been undoubtably successful for me. I saw tremendous sport on these this year on Deeside and on the Varzuga River in Russia's Kola Peninsula, where I was most fortunate to have 26 in one day to 20 lbs on a size 13 he tied for me. I can say Helmie ties some good copys too. There are a selection of Dee flies they both have tied here www.fishpal.com/Scotland/Dee/FliesForTheDee.asp?dom=DeeHere is a selection of Park Shrimps tied for me by Ross MacD

Love the look of them Sloggi. Never heard or seen that fly before. Is it a new flee out? kf I think the creator was Bert Webster. It's a good way to get rid of the reams of mirage tinsel I have!

Love the look of them Sloggi. Never heard or seen that fly before. Is it a new flee out? kf There is a very very similar pattern sold by Orvis called the Raider Cascade.
