I have complained to ebay and the seller of this rod and others he was listing under my name as the maker. The original listing has been removed.
The seller hardyfishing09 has now relisted this rod Item number: 280473492492 and re-phrased the description to allude that I am the maker of this rod.
This ebay listing is a scam. This rod is not a David Norwich rod. Please do not bid thinking you are getting a Norwich fly rod from this seller.
David.

David, it might pay you to register with eBay VeRO scheme which protect your interests in such circumstances.

That is underway Mac. On Ebay's VeRO Programme The wheels of Ebay grind slowly though. They take some time in checking out the company or person making the complaint is genuine.
Another point to check if any David Norwich rod is genuine, Is to ask the seller for the number. All my rods are numbered. Very old ones from 1977-1985 had no numbers but can be identified from the lettering easily. Every rod since then has a number that ties it down to what it is, who bought it and the month/year it was made. I can verify any rod of mine is genuine if that number is obtained.
Rod blank or kits are logged in and numbered in my files, but the customers were never issued with a number to put on a home build. That is another easy one to check out with a seller to see if the rod is a David Norwich build.
Regards,
David.

I bought two EV4 Spey rods from David in a sale, a couple of years ago. These were a 15ft 10/11 4 piece and a 13ft 9/10 3 piece and both which were supplied in hard plastic tubes as opposed to aluminium David Norwich tubes as per the policy of David Norwich for all sale rods
I never used the rods a decided to put them up for sale on eBay at the end of 2009. During the eBay auction, the prospective buyer contacted David Norwich and was told by them my rods were fake, despite the serial number being displayed prominently on the eBay photograph and also being registered on my insurance policy for the last 2 years. I had the purchase receipts and the rod tubes with the original Norwich printed label and was able to provide these to the seller as a guarantee of authenticity. So are David Norwich selling knock off versions of there own rods, well of course not but they seem to have an objection to anyone else selling there rods, legitimate or not.
When it comes to dealing with David Norwich, new, used or otherwise, the principle of caveat emptor should clearly apply

Something fishy going on here Splash. This is your 1st post and you are having a go at David Norwich......? Your saying you bought two EV4 Salmon fly rods from me in a sale and never used them? I often have had sales in the past so it is possible. I have not sold rods in plastic tubes for some time, in fact not since Silver Fin (Hyde & Hides) ceased trading umpteen years back.... There is no policy to sell sale or used rods in plastic tubes at David Norwich? There never has been. All sale or used rods when advertised are listed with a bag and a tube IF the rod has a tube. There is no policy I adhere to on on selling EV4 salmon rods with plastic tubes. Even if you wanted a plastic tube I have not been able to offer them for at least eight years or more..... Neither did I ever do a 13ft rod? As you are anonymous and I have no idea who you are - to verify that you did buy these rods, post this number picture you mention, or send me your name and address and give me the numbers of the rods via pm or email me via my website www.davidnorwich.com so I can check this out.
If what you are saying is true and accurate, it will be on record what the rods were, who bought them, and exactly when they where sold.
I'll happily publish the details on that here once I have the numbers. I get questions often about rods of mine on ebay often. There is at least one on there just now that has had several telephone calls to me enquiring about what it is? The last one (just yesterday) I was asked about, was a 12-14 year old long discontinued M500 Salmon rod. I was asked is it as good as what I currently make or bear comparison? My answer was... Well yes up to a point.... It was in it's day a good rod. Not made on one of my own build blanks or a similar carbon fibre - but a nice rod for it's time. However it bears NO comparison to what I make now. I now design and produce all my own blanks, and the rods are far superior now to those made 12 -14 years ago. That is exactly what the person enquiring was told. Why would I say otherwise? That is exactly the facts about the history of the manufacture of the rod he asked about on ebay. He was also cautioned to ask for the number on the rod to verify it was built by me, and not built from a blank or kit. OR was a fake built on another manufacturers blank. David.

Follow up:- Despite Splash logging in recently, there has been no response from Splash. No pm or email via my website has been received by me. However... thanks to my Sherlock Holmes of a wife, who knew this had upset me - and bless her - she tracked down the emails enquiring about this ebay sale last year from the person interested in buying the Norwich rods....... I have the permission of the sender of the email to post his response which is copied below. David. www.davidnorwich.com "hi i just read the @mail now as my phone doesnt show it big enough for my eyes i am pleased you followed it up. when i told you as i could not get in touch with him he totally blanked me after i queried the rod numbers with him but after you have found further listings i will make it my priority to watch for him as it is not right what he is doing it makes everyone who would like 1 of your rods vulnerable and as they are copies they will be inferior and people just starting out a bad feel for the rods you might have to think of a watermark or similar idea.
thanks harv emmersonps had a fish of 8lb today below hexam on a brass pot belly pig red with a single barbless hook saves netting them they come off easy"
