Was just looking through my fly tying gear and came across some Veniard's UV Pearl Krystal Flash
Has anyone any patterns (trout, sea trout or salmon - doesn't matter) where this is specifically needed for the dressing?
Also does it work better if you shine a torch or other light source on it first?
I can't think of any patterns that come to mind so any help with suggestions are very welcome.

i use it for the heads on my Lime and green flamethrowers, over the top of a fluo white thread. It looks amazing through a black or dark red wing. I use it through the tails in my red and black polar extreme pot bellied pigs, rather than the pearl crystal hair. The uv black and orange are pretty good too, on the right fly.

Here is a picture of it used as a head on a lime and black flamethrower The fly on the right The left fly uses pearl mylar the middle uses yellow crystal hair, all wound over fluo white thread. You will see the blue uv tinge from the right hand one. I will dig oot some pics of other flees using it in the wings and tails.

Yeah they work very well.
I have had most success with my black and red polar extreme pbp with the uv crystal hair in the tail.
I am a big believer that the uv spectrum of colours is of great use to the flytyer and to the angler, in varying light and water conditions.
using uv flash like crystal or angel hair really lights up your fly without making it too garish.

I'm all for subtlety in the dressings, I once tied a Munro killer with a bright flashy gold body and strands of fine flash in the wing. I then dulled it down with darker hair for the wing and beard. Almost masking the body with the hair but letting plenty of light through at the same time. Worked a treat took many fish on it. Hope you find a picture of the polar red. Do you have a black light it's supposed to show up UV materials.

Thanks for the ideas chaps.
Never even thought of using it in the head.
Makes quite a sparkle though.
