Being the proud owner of an Abu Ambassadeur 6500 A purchased for the pricily sum of £50 from Wm Robertsons & co Glasgow in 1987 {iv still got the receipt} Id always been under the impression that the engineering marvel that is the Multiplier was a purely Swedish invention. That was before i came across this little beauty in a second hand market one Sunday afternoon at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. After a bit of friendly bartering and a fair price agreed i found myself the proud owner of my second Multiplier in the past 20 odd years . This reel's a very early Pfluger Summit dating back to the year 1935.Made in the USA these quality reel's were churned out in their thousands from 1935 to 1959.The Brits of course take the credit for the invention of the Multiplier but discarded it in the 19th century claiming it was totaly unreliable. In steppes our cousins from across the pond and from as early as 1883 their are examples of some absolutely stunning Multiplying reels made by Benjamin F. Meek & Sons of Louisville, Kentucky. Id love to know the history of this little reel and how after 75 years starting life in the USA it managed to end up in a flea market in Glasgow. Skippy Attachments:
