I was looking through the shrimp pattern pages tonight and noticed we had no allys featuring anywhere. So here is one I rattled up earlier today on a 1 inch copper slipstream. I have added orange runner over the bucktail to give it a bit more motion in the water.

Dave,
When you tie in the golden pheasant tippet how do you keep the ends of the tippets alligned? When I tie these I always end up with the ends of the tippets all slightly mis-asligned, I've tried tieing it in as a complete feather and also tried cutting the fibres first and then tieing them in but the result is sadly still the same..
cheers
Matt

Hi.
When you are tying the tippet in, select a feather and remove some of the outer most fibres leaving the ones nearest the stem in place.
This fan shape 'v" shape feather is now taken between your theumb and finger and rolled keeping the bright colours to the outside and the dull ones to the inside.
Once you have rolled the feather like this it should sit nicely when you tie it in.
Do not cut the fibres from the feather to tie in, keep them attached.

I also nip we bit out the tip just like in a barred teal wing, and run the piont of scissors down inside of stem centre to to scar helps it fold over into we sedge tent type roof wing,an old clyde style trout fly tying tip,see bert sharps book,if you can get hold off, when pulling stem through ease fibres down sides to help winh neatly fold
