i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...lespringer.jpgFor those that have fished ,walked and bothied with me over the past 14 years you will know that my constant companion was Wee Sal, a black and white Sprocker. She is the veteran of 170 Munros, has landed countless salmon with me both here and in Ireland and was just my best pal----ever. Her last days fishing with me was on opening day at Callander where she made many more friends to add to her tally. She was the most loveable, likeable, friendliest and loyal dog and my heart is just shattered just now as she passed away in my arms at 5.00pm tonight. I will never find a dog that can ever replace my wee pal---never. She was the best. The last fresh fish she helped me land was at Newtyle 2 weeks ago. You can see her in the bow of the boat in the link above. God rest you Sal, thanks for your friendship and all the happy times we spent in each others company. Hope you are now in a better place.

Some folk would say they are just dogs, but they are one of the family and a terrible loss when the inevitable happens. I am gutted for you.

Very sorry for your loss,as has been said they do become part of the family,i know exactly how you feel,we lost our dog last year he was a ripe old 14 and a bit,it was a hard hard time.
We still talk of him all the time, but more and more we are laughing about his escapades and the good memories we will always have.
The old saying time make's it easeir is very true.

I am new to the forum and therefore I knew neither you or the dog, but I know exactly the sadness that you are feeling just now. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you.

Very sorry to hear of your sad loss. I've never owned my own dog but have looked after several for relatives on and off for forty years at times of holiday and illness. Always felt the loss myself when news came through that they passed on. I had intended to get a dog to keep me company when I retired, but since my illness it's a non-starter.

Sad news for any dog owner, i think we all know how you feel!! As the owner of a 14yo collie i have the knowledge that the inevitable is not far away, the kind words you have used clearly shows your fondness for your dog and makes me realise that i should value every day that mine has left.
