Had been lucky enough to be involved in a trial trip out to the river Yokanga in Sept 06. The river is not usually fished in Sept, due to weather conditions etc. Its the start of their winter and the fish tend to less agressive at that time of year, up on these north east coast rivers. But hey, off we went to murmansk and waited for a day and a half for the weather to clear. Once at the camp we set off fishing only the main holding water, as there were only four of us and 55 kms of water. We had been informed by the russian guides that once the river temp drops to 3 degrees, the late running fish come in just before the ice forms. So here,s hoping. Having had 38 fish here, on the sunray back in july, i decided to fish it even though the air temp had to be just above freezing. It worked and again At last we found one of these late clean fish. 16 lbs on the surface with the sunray in snow showers Cheers Loopie
