For all of my fishing I wear a FLADEN BUOYANCY fishing waist coat it does not inflate but gives the angler that extra bit of safety. Designed for fishing with a few external pockets for the boxes I have found it to be very good value. It is designed in camo colour to fool the SEWIN on my local river when wading as to catch more fish Like I said an aid not an inflatable jacket. sewinfly..........

Borderer I dont mean to trivialise the issue of using life jackets. But martin was to fast to be in any danger being a big lad like myself he sure can shift, as soon as he hit that cold water MAN DID HE MOVE he was out like a rocket

I did a hatfloater in Oregon January before last, in dead winter. had to swim to shore, strip down to my tightie whities on an ice-covered rock beach, wring it all out, and fish another 8 hours wet, hypothermic, and eventually drunk.
My advice, if you must take a dip do it late in the day, and near the truck...LOL

ive never been that comfortable wading and find my wading staff as important as the rod well almost newtyle especialy pools like deans can be quite tricky i nearly went last october luckily i managed to regain balance before i was in i fell once on the carron many years ago and ended up cacked in mud not a nice experience so maybe a life jacket would be worth the money the wife is always on at me about one maybe its time

I fell in on a few occasions but the worst was in russia in 2008 it was about 5 degrees and an upstream wind that would have cut you in half . Stupidly I stayed in the wet gear for a few hours and then changed Brrrrrrrrrrr and below i have the proof vimeo.com/9216849Dee

I had a casting lesson on Friday and I was surprised to see that the two rods who were fishing A) didn't have life jackets and B) didn't have wading sticks.
Personally I don't go wading without my wading stick and I was lucky enough to get a life jacket for christmas. I'll probably only wear the lifejacket in the spring and the back end of the season but in the summer the risk of hypothermia isn't so high.

There'r no ment to keep you warm. They are ment to save your life, spring summer and back end. You can take a heeder in any time of year.
