Thanks Kenny, there will be fish about when you are there for sure. I will be interested to see what you think of Balmakewan as its a beat I've never fished before.

That's the one, it's bellow stracathro, the fish were moving through 6 hours after high tide at Montrose on both days.

After having seven fish the previous week, Madkeen opened the floodgates this week which saw the final tally reaching 10 with four yesterday and five today. I was lucky enough to catch 3 today.
Of the 10 this week, 7 were sea-liced grilse ranging from 2.5lbs - 6lb. Two 10lb fish were landed with one sea-liced and a 7lb sea-liced fish was also caught.
The guest fishing yesterday had a memorable day - 4 landed with five lost. The lucky angler accounted for the 10lb sea-liced fish noted above. All were caught on a 1" WG tube (the water was high)
I think all the other fish were caught on Flamethrowers.

A good week indeed Neil, Hope it continues The grilse continue to bomb through. I had one whilst having a break from strimming the banks last night - however, the two guys fishing today had 4 and lost 8. Stracathro banged 7 out of their water yesterday. All good! Most of our fish are coming on small orange-coloured flies.

Had a afternoon/evening session on the Edzell beat which is opposite Burn estate. The rivers getting a touch low now but still pods of fish going through yesterday. I managed to land this wee grilse on a sz 12 Executioner. It will hopefully rain this week
