Had my first outing of the year on the Tummel on Portnacraig and with good opening day conditions yesterday I was hoping for the same today but when I popped in to Newtlye on the way up the A9 I was met with a rising R.Tay that was full of huge chunks of ice and I think Martin was scared to take the new boat out incase he reenacted a scence from titanic. Well off to the Tummel and there certainly wasnt any ice but the river was rising steadily all day with the colour getting worse as the day wore on. It was good to get out and about after the winter lay off-no fish but maybe next time no pics as my camera gave up first thing

New rod stayed wrapped up nice and warm in the motor ;D while i used my usual shooting head set up Stinger and sinking shooting head. What did the level end up on your gauge?

A neighbour is fishing East Haugh next week and asked about what flies to try.
Any suggestions on what type - weight, length etc?
