Here are some pics of the Forth at Stirling yesterday The snow is at least 5 inches deep after settling and pretty crunchy underfoot. Must say I have never seen so many birds gathered together at the one spot on a river before The ice was all the way across (70-80 metres or so) and pretty thick in many places It is going to be a massive flood when it melts tweedbunnet

Stevie
I would never say never but it is now £47 a pop for a day's fishing there, regardless of time of year.
To be quite frank, there is plenty of better value fishing than that on offer at the Forth.
A season ticket @ £250 approx. is the answer plus someone to give you a shout when fish are running.
I am pretty sure the runs have changed a lot since when I fished. Always a few Springers around from the start in February and theneEarly April always used to see fresh fish. Then it was the first spate of the summer
It used to be a very nice in the Spring during the 1970's and early '80's with enough fish around to keep you interested.
I saw a grilse caught at the Trap in the mid-afternoon in late June a couple of years ago and you would not have expected it. It was a clear bright sky and very warm.
I think this year might be good on the East Coast of Scotland, generally. Don't ask why, it is just a feeling.
