I was back at my old stamping ground for a quick look see today (see post about my visit to the Forth today) It brought back memories of what one used to fish with around 30-35 years ago. I remember that a Black and Fluo Green Devon was quite a popular choice in the early morning during the Spring , especially at the Green Banks section of the River, just down from where the Forth and Teith join. It was always felt that the south side of the river (the Old Forth side) was more coloured than the north (or Teith) side and perhaps this was why a Black and Fluo Green Devon was successful. The following fly is tied with that in mind. I am sure someone somewhere must have tied this particular pattern up but I do not ever recollect seeing it in a shop or in someone elses Fly Box. It is a simple variant on a silver bodied Black and Yellow so I am not claiming to have invented a new pattern - unless you tell me I have! tweedbunnet
