This fish was the last one I caught during a 3 day trip to a spring creek in Eastern Washington, and the biggest. It was a tank! caught on a TFO TiCR 4wt w/ floating line, Fly was a brown wooly bugger. I hope sharing some fish porn will brighten your winter's day. regards all, Bob and a couple pix:

what a fat Ferker that is and I thought this was fat: I know its only a Brown trout, but was a very welcome catch on a difficult and nail biting night for many reasons, that right Sean ?

whoa! that's a pretty Brown. I wish there were more brown trout opportunity here, they're only stocked in a few lakes. Most of my fishing, besides steelhead/pac salmon, is for searun cutthroat and rainbows. was that from a loch or from moving water?

Can be dour at times, but when the sedges are on, it can offer some good sport. kf

no arguing with success there!
what's the method? Big dry sedges on a floating line, or were you drift fishing with a sunk line? I have a lake near me that has some browns about that size, but they're night feeders and tough to catch.

Fishing from the boat, quite a still night and trying to locate them next to the various weed beds we have on the Loch. Here is a link to the Loch area concerned. www.flickr.com/photos/photojoy/sets/72157594165695920/Some images I took last year of the Loch, just to give you an idea of its size. My fishing buddy on that evening. KF

I used to stay a stone's throw from that loch. Stayed up there for 11 years, then rented the cottage up the hill you can see in the 3rd picture for a few months. Used to see plenty of fish rising as I drove over the causeway - even in mid-winter!

Seen some rises to die for, mainly when it was a brown trout Loch. Those cottages have been coverted into holiday lets and they are called Swallow cottages. Don't know if thats what they were called when you stayed there, but you can google them and see inside them before you book them. Nice looking and I guess they will have a near 360 degree view from that location? Did you ever get the chance to fish it during your tenancy up there? kf

Hi Kf,
We stayed there for 6 months after selling up at the 'wurrits' (Old mining cottages) at the other side of the track. I think they had not long started marketing the farm as holiday cottages then. We were between houses so we rented up there for 6 months (over the winter!).
Going way back to the early 80s, as laddies we used to fish the 'wee pond' for pike, and when I was in my local club we used to have the odd trip onto the big loch, highlight of the calendar that was! I only ever fished it when it was browns only, and I saw some belters come off there.
cheers, TF
