I heve benn looking the 2/3 version of this line for the Spring for use on my Hardy Gem.I am well used to using SH having used the Rio afs heads for the last 3 years.I was looking for some feedback on the Guideline heads as i have never used them before.I am hoping the Guideline 2/3 heads is nicer to cast than the Rio 2/3 head which i dont like using.Thanks.

i know folks who do, but i dont! imo it goes down quite quick and as i said before i dont feel i need to smooth out the presentation due to the depth im wanting to fish the fly! casts heavy tubes with ease!

Hello I've used it a lot (as I've done with the other types of the GL PowerT S Heads). They work very good - both with poly and without. But you don't need the poly realy. What you do need to draw you attention to is that IMO the new non stretch cores has a disadvantage - the loops will need to be redone becaus damage during "normal use". This if of course only a "problem" when you use the head where you make the loops yourself. On the prefabricated loops I do not think there will be any problems. USE the PowerTapers if you want to use shootingheads - they are absolutely among the best. When I come to Scotland i April my bag is loaded with Powertapers Tight lines Henke

I like the Powertapers too, have them in hover/int, S1/S2, and S2/S3. I think they cast as well as AFS and fish better. Great depthkeeping on the swing.
Another thought of course would be to consider the DDC Connect system. My Powertapers get a lot less use since I got one. Awesome! I bought the extra tips for it too, S3/4 and S4/5.
now there's a wallet full of options.

One thing I forgot to mention; another really nice thing about the DDC Connect is that it's useful for mixed-style casting. I'd say about half the time I'm using a sustained anchor cast, ala Skagit or Skandit style. Very useful for windy days, tight brushy banks, etc. This is possible because, like the early skagit heads, the DDC belly is level and the Density Compensated tips perform just like regular skagit tips.
