I was asked to tie up some Tubes for Spring by a friend and given pretty much free rein to tie what I liked ( as long as there was at least one fly with Black and Yellow in the selection)
So, here's what my choice consists of:
Gold Bodied Willie Gunn (with no black hair) - You have to include this ever popular fly
Dunkeld - a nice alternative for when the water has a bit of a peat stain in it
Underdog - anyone who has seen minitube's (Robert Gillespie) version tied on a Waddington will appreciate why I like this fly
Pink Panther - Why not? After all, plenty Pink Minnow and Tomics catch fish early in the Season
Silver Garry - an alternative to the GBWG and highly rated by some in a falling water
Green Highlander Cascade style - always liked the look of this fly. Notice that more and more fish are caught in Russia with a bit of green in them. Klops seems to do well with green flies also and he recommends them for use on tree lined pools
Silver Doctor - tied with a Badger wing for a bit of tastiness etc. A classic fly for a bright day in Spring and clear water with the sun high overhead
Willie Gunn - again, it is hard to think of a good reason not to include this really top fly (This one does have a wee bit of Black Hair over the Orange and Yellow mix) I think an Orange Tube extension and a Red Head may give it a wee boost - but plenty fish caught on a plain black head and clear tube
Black and Yellow - lots of variants around but this is my favourite one. I do like the way the Jungle Cock sets off the Black Wing.
The Monkey is a big hit on the Dee and other rivers abroad. Not tried it much myself but it seems the longer the Tail the better.

Hope you like them. All tubes are tied in a Vice Free Environment
