Aye its got to be a Black and yellow, that was the first fly I ever used when I started fishing a great stand by and as good now as ever, its almost a tradition first day of Spring season a Black and Yellow goes on.

A great big one o' these followed closely by an equally big one of these or a 1 1/2'' copper one of these.

I agree with the black and yellow tube. Big black and silver temple dog is good too. and this lady will be getting a good swim this spring, will be tied on 1 inch tungsten tubes with plastic extensions.

Seeing as its christmas- a wee treat. This is the old man's fly box. Picture was taken when he wasnt looking in the hut at Loch Beg on the Thurso

The Drowned Mouse (F Grant) is a popular spring pattern and here are a couple of pix from some I've been tying for my spring box I tend to tie a batch of bodies The same flies with a pile of mixed bucktail ready to go A good addition to the spring box (or for all season long) and a nice change-up to a black/yellow or when there's a tinge of colour in the water
