octopussy type patterns

i am wanting to start tying these flies but im unsure what size tubeing and turbo discs to purchase . i dont want to end up buying a hole lot of gear i wont use.

if i was going to make flies say up to 3 to 4 inches in length, what diameter tubing should i get and what size discs.

medium & x-small tubing plus small or medium turbos should do the job

cheers flamethrower, looking at the needles there seems to be 2 types there is a hakan norling needle at 4.99 and a guideline needle at 12.99 . thats quite a big price difference, will they both do the same job or is the more expensive better.

also where can i get the ostrich body hackles for the hackle at the front.

A lot of people use these much the same as the ones you've mentioned and a lot cheaper.

They look the same to me anyway I've been using them for a while and they do the job just fine.
