Martin, trouble I have with raps is tuning them. I find them turning turtle on me regularly and rarely running true. Might do some experimenting when Im up in about 6 weeks.

Listen guys, thanks for your concerns but dont start a collection to buy me another Rap. Ive got a bag full of them , some bought in U.S.A. some from B.J.A. and others from various sources. Im just a ham end when it comes to using them. Just dont seem to be able to get it right. Love their action and believe it or not, have been quite succesful with them. Not impressed however when they do the double backward triple loop though. Wee floating minnows are the best. ;D

With the Rap bend the front eye to suit the bank you are fishing from and run the line in with the bend that should stop it turning over, sometimes fishing them mega fast turns them over as well, so the line is running straight to the hook, it works for me.

Martin,i'm looking to do a few sliders this coming season,is the hole in the vane drilled in the centre from either side and top and bottom of the vane???(what size hole) i'm looking at fishing a 7cm floater on a paternoster set-up as i usually do to fish deep and slow through deep pools in early spring,,,i'm thinking of using a 7cm slider with a bigger sized treble on the back,,do you think the slider method will effect the set up in anyway/ ? stump..

Stump, never used the slider on anything below 9cm, never seen a need to do this as the raps are pretty small and usually hook and hold well, if you do try them let me know how you get on, BJA

bja,i just want one treble on the back instead of 2,,but want a slightly bigger treble for the large springers(confidence thing i think)but looking at the slider i think the line through the vane might keep the bait up when im fishing close to the bank with a main flow pushing right into bait, where i get alot of fish,so the bait might fish on a slightly evener keel(hope that makes sense)also on the smaller bait it might keep the back treble straighter inline with the bait when fished slowly>>>if the action of the small bait is effected that isn't important, its the colour and size i want...i shall be giving it a go thou ;D

Stump, bigger treble on the back should be ok, if it doesnt swim properly but a link swivel on and attatch to the front loop to help counterbalance it, BJA

On Tweed the law says that you are only allowed one treble on a spinner/lure, I don't have a problem with that, in fact I prefer one treble if the fish takes from the rear I find they are hooked in the front of the jaw usually the bottom jaw and if it takes side ways on its nicely in the scissors even on 13 cm Raps. I have been using the x raps this year in the deeper water they cast well also. I tend to use a very small split ring on the mid loop so the hook, swivel stays 3/4 of the way back
