I fished Holylee on the Tweed in mid November 2005 and even the plants looked as if they had been cryogenically freeze-dried in about 10 seconds flat. Never seen it as bad that morning
Rod rings iced up veryquickly and nicely. Had to sook the lot of them to keep fishing. Classic cold weather.
Was a bit better after lunch but a very cold day. Not experienced one again like that but I am not really into November on the Tweed due to various factors

I've not seen Grue on the Tweed for at least 15 years during the fishing season, used to have to cut the ice round the boats to get them out in November and certainly in Feb. It was bloody cold end of November last year 2008 rods iced up, reels frozen ect but no grue.

While it was pretty cold in February this year, the November day in 2005 was really freezing and not something I had previously experienced
You would have died of exposure in 15 minutes if you only had your underwear on!!
I always equate good spring fishing with lots of snow and deep frosts

Aye loads of snow and frost about but I'm on about grue floating down the river so you cant even get a line through it, not seen that for years on Tweed. Nice pic where was it taken and any fish that day?

How timely a question. Have a Yellow Lab and my Neighbors 'Husky,' whose name IS Husky for good reason. Live just off of 'exit 14' here in Southern Oregon (California on the end of that) and going down 'numbers' you're climbing like heck into the mountains.
At my level (2,000 feet) it's raining ... add 1500 feet and it's snowing like all heck has broken loose. I'm 'double bundled up' and the fuzz balls had a great time flopping/running/rolling/etc., in 2 foot of fresh snow. Ski season can only be a week away for the young folks up on Mt. Ashland' ski park.

Edit: KF, that photo looks like it's damned cold under anyone's definition. Fred
