Bert Sharps book "Lets fish the Clyde" is really good. I use it for most of my clyde flies. I also have about 30 pages of handwritten patterns dating form 1927/1929, the writting is difficult to make out. I have scanned all the pages as individual PDF's. I don't know if its possible to post them all on the forum, it would be quite big file but it makes interesting reading. There is a wide variety of patterns, I'm not sure if these are variations on a theme or if there was a much wider variety of flies 80 or 90 years ago.

Bert Sharp's book is excellent. I still have a copy given to me by the man himself. It is something I treasure and a fairly modern link to the Cyde's wonderful fishing history. Another favourite and one well worth seeking out is - "The Angler and the Loop Rod." By David Webster. The stories he tells of fishing the Upper Tweed to it's source, then in the same day tackling the Clyde on the other side of the hill and walking home with a full creel to Abington - puts a modern "days fishing" into perspective....

It may very well be? I think the Mitchell has always been a reference Library. They don't let books out I think? It is a super book. I looked for a copy for a long time. I finally have my own copy now. They are scarce and fetch a fair bit. I just looked up that rod in my files. I made or sold that on the 19th October 1991. You need to have an accident with that rod or I'll be out of business.... ;D David is that the book they hold in the Mitchell library in Glasgow that is not aloud out ,by the way the 9FT M400 #3/5 still main workhorse and catching troots on wee river, wouldnt have another rod tried newer dont want will pm you serial nos at later time
