As part of our fundraising activities with the FishDee sponsors, the Whyte & Mackay group we are launching a whisky for the start of the fishing season. The Dalmore Dee Dram was chosen by a group of 150 guests invited to a blind tasting event in September on Deeside where 7 different whiskies were sampled. The clear winner on the night was a dram made by the Dalmore Distillery in Alness. See www.thedalmore.com to find out more about the distillery. There will be an initial limited production run of 3,600 bottles of the "Dee Dram", which will be sold to raise funds for the River Dee Trust and will make a significant contribution to ongoing conservation and education programmes of the River Dee Trust. It is hoped this initiative should raise a six figure sum providing much needed funds for the River Dee. The whisky will be available to purchase from February and will be found in specialist retailers in Deeside and elsewhere. For further information please contact ken@riverdee.org . It was an enjoyable day down in Glasgow today working with Whyte and Mackay's Jim Coates and Paul Young the TV actor and angling broadcaster. Hopefully will have some news on this front in the near future. He was in top form and full of fun stories. Perhaps we should start a campaign to get Paul doing some new shows for the telly-He always communicates well in his programmes.Pity the young execs of the day prefer to show programmes about renovating cottages in Tuscany et al rather than fishing programmes.

Latest media update on the Dee Dram with article written by Whisky Guru and master blender Richard Paterson. Make sure you get your bottle before its too late-its very collectable and would make a wonderful gift. Some wiseacres have been trying to sell it on EBAY for £120 a bottle!! See the article here. www.themasterblender.com/2010/03/12/inexpensive-whisky-good-dee-dram/
