Nice flies. I will have to be at my best for the Fly Swap to match the standard you are setting!
Like you I tend to use white tread as the base for a lot of my flies these days.
Do you leave the heads as per thread colour or do you ever put black varnish over as per traditional tyings? I notice the first fly is red headed
Or do you find it doesn't matter in the actual catches?

lazy for my box under body white on light and plastic tinsel bodies thread to try and blend with dub and sometimes hackle When i used to tie for people many years ago mostly friends, brown and sea trout were thinned coats of black to colour and seal then thin coats of vycoat (liquid vinyl, from savilles, don't know if they do it yet) River used to use brown to seal then vycoat, these flies time is taken before going on net as camera images find every bump ,as to my frustration just now trying to do Clyde flies for site just now, size 16 as near as damn poss materials to originals which starts to limit what you can, look out for road kills etc walking dog chaffinch cran swallow, pulling hairs out to the naked eye and 3x mg plus glasses and daylight fluorescence look good scanny photographed them and i thought nope Can remember Ollie Edwards telling me about a debate he had with another writer criticizing his flies not being neat but they were something like 22 and super magnified like the size of a 4 hook you can get to technical, its about fooling fish and my fishing flies don't get that care to attention never two peas in a pod a lot is take time learn how materials react to different things,if you cant get astraight wing look at the twist and tie it in using twist ie offset so as it lies correct,or slight overlap into hook round Rather on top square where if materials have natural twist,it will end up being twisted truth i still do them with twists sometimes to my not proportionate, they still catch and go in box I know plenty tiers who have a natural flare and can produce no problem and to far better standard than me i go to teach people things and get nights where nothing goes wrong, IF you can get any of the old veniard books, fly dressers guide and further fly dressers guide will stand you in goo stead very good sound basics ,if you learn old technique and handling traditional feather fur you will get there am prattling on please don't be put off, forget about standards for fly swap if you would fish it enter it i have and you can see differences in every one Lomond they have swam along side Gary's fleas out of balmaha but they are deadly on carron dam
