Hi Guys i have been watching the forum in the last few weeks and there is just noone posting??. This is prime time, surely there are loads of salmon fishers out there with storys to tell ,fish to boast about, come on we all want to hear about the catches ,the one that got away, the day you had at the troot???. Its a long winter and talking about fishing must be better than listening to the wife moaning . borderer

Have you just noticed, Jamie? Tone posted the same complaint followed by myself in "Theres life captain---------" Hasnt made any difference. Everyones on Facebook, some are even playing the daftest of games. Forums generally, not just this one, seem to be dying just now.

Right ok. Tweed a bit coloured today and its been up and doon for last week but we managed 8 today so cant complain, fly only since the 15th so was on a wet 2 and a 2inch Temple Shrimp (Braw Flee ) only one old fish the rest fresh and all over 10lbs bar one the best being 20lbs. Tweeds been amazing since early August, well it has been with us so long may it continue, but rain coming in tonight from the west so might no fish tomorrow and it looks like a wet and windy week which I don't want, need the levels to drop to settle the fish down a bit. Anyway off to tie some flees.

Hi Malc, at least we can depend on you for your wonderful understated reports always containing a sobering message or 2. Wee nuggets like "It was slow today lads, only 81 to 85lbs but tomorrow is going to be hard work with a slight North Easterly tinged with the possibility of snow. Might only manage 60 tomorrow---dont know how Im going to keep the guests occupied. Christ its hard work keeping the spirits up. " Bloody marvellous---what a great river, great reports pity I canny afford it. Keep them comong Malcolm.

Here's my report:
Water conditions have been a little unfavourable making fluff chucking difficult, but I'm having some great success with yellow and red Antron, not forgetting old faithful red wool.
Adding a little excitement I've been fishing for small finches and squirrels in the trees surrounding some Ayrshire rivers, I kindly left the locals 6 of my finest pointy bits o fluff after striking to early on some crows!
Next month looks promising

Here's mine its a struggle ;D ;D As Malcolm would say; "Carry on then lads, the water has a wee tinge to it today but couldnt resort to spinning as were not allowed now. Just have to persevere with the wet 2s and big flees. Aye its a struggle right enough!!!!! Lunchtime already and the gentlemen have only managed 50 to 48lbs. Wish we were allowed to spin. The lads are probably bored stiff and might go golfing in the afternoon. God its hard work here!!!!" Chins up the rest of us mere mortals who havent got access to that Paradice in the Borders. Strangely enough UG , Im off to the Earn but Im having a wee throw at the Rocks on the Forth on the way by. So Forth and Earn report tonight. Allright Lads??? Carry on then , the wind has just shifted and stiffened and theres a cloud in the west. Water will probably rise and make it more difficult. Aye its hard right enough!!!!

Tut Tut Lads!! Well a bit o a breeze blowing down the Temple as norm, and a rising river but pushed on till lunchtime and managed 8. After a fine drop of claret and a truffle oyster pie got the rods back into the boats for another two before the colour got to us, now if it would just stop raining we could get in amongst them. As you were men!!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon Tom, you could give us a Forth/Teith report Oh aye and the Earn Well UG as promised here it is. Arrived at the Forth at crack of 9.00a.m. and headed up the Rocks for a cast. Having already had a 14lbr on Friday I was full of confidence and the water was down to a much more manageable height of 1m from 1.2m on Friday. The wind was difficult though, but armed with my new set up of 15ft DTX and G2 floating line with 10ft inty tip and size 10 Park Shrimp I waded out to the ledge. The wind was gusting 10mph to 30mph allegedly S/W but actually almost easterly as it turned and swirled making good long casting very difficult. A few fish were nosing out in the main current and after 4 or 5 casts it felt as if my fly was touching bottom a couple of times. Knowing that was not possible I then felt the line shoot out and 10mins later this short , stocky fellow was landed, absolutely plastered in lice. Notice the sore on its flank above my fingers, just a skin abrasion but no idea how it got there. Anyhow, returned it to head on upriver. Finished my run down the pool and headed off for the Earn. Similar conditions greeted me but with the addition of a cloudless (almost) sky. Saw 2 fish for the rest of the day with no contact whatsoever. The Earn is disappointing just now I think maybe the water has been too high for too long although I heard from John Young that Crieff has had a few over the past few days and Lochlane had 3 licers today, which is perhaps a measure of how quickly the fish are moving through the Lower and Middle beats. Hopefully the water will settle down now and the conditions become more suitable for consistent sport.

Did a day trip to Edinburgh today (groan - 460mile round trip), crossed the Clyde which looked as though it had plenty of water in it, looked a wee bit coloured, but saw 2 lads out near Abington. Was it anyone on here, any luck?
Border Esk and Eden also went up a bit since I passed around 5.30am and back around 3.30pm
