Hi All, Ade and I fished Carlogie and Commonty over the last couple of weeks - unfortunately now need to go back to work and won't be back until end Feb 2012. Nevermind. Hi Madkeen, Normally I nick Ade's flies. But I'm starting to get better at tying- and on Carlogie the fish I had were on my flies (Hairy Mary and Park). And on Commonty - I caught a fish on one of my Cascade mini-tubes (which came last or second last on the SFF TOTM) - so I'm happy. I finally managed to re-pay Ade when he was on Kincardine - as he got a grilse on a size 15 silver stoat I tied - and he also lost a monster. All in all, I might not tie the best fly in the world, but now I have confidence in what I tie. That said - lost fish on Helmie's Dee Monkey and caught fish on Sean Stanton's Red Frances'. But I'll put that down to the fact I didn't have the materials ;D ;D ;D I was amazed at how small a flea I was using when I caught my biggest fish (12lb on a size 15). And then equally amused when I caught a 1.5 lb grilse on a huge 2 inch red carrot (Frances). You never know - that's all I can say. Tight lines, Patrick |
