Hi all, I need a blue fly for clear low water. I had a look at 2010 Sept's addition of T&S and it has a Ewe Blue. Looking at my kit, I didn't have half of what they said, so made my own variant. Be kind - no not great at the heads - and running out of JC quicker than the News of the World is running out of publications ;D - but came up with this as an attempt. Do you reckon it'll work?? Cheers, Patrick Hook: Size 13 Salar – Silver – would have liked Black but got none. Thread: Uni 8/0 black Tag: Small oval silver Tail: Blue Calf’s tail – but the tips (didn’t have Artic fox), two strands Turrall flash (not sure what it is) Body: Holo Silver tinsel Rib: Small oval silver Underwing: Blue calf’s tail Throat: Peacock neck overlaid with small amount black squirrel Overwing: Black Artic fox Bling: Two spears Maraflash pearl along the line of the Artic fox wing – either side JC – over the bling Massive heed - job done ;D Will it catch anything - who the fk knows???

Dr P
Found a 15 and an 11 in black, they're doubles not trebles, mind! Underghillie, which one of these would you like Patrick to tie your one on? I'll have the other ;D

Thanks for the comments, I'll get there. I'm sure you fellas can tie something better - but just nice to try and tie something someone else has tied and it resembles it. Or in fact, to look at something and change it based on stuff available.
Anyway, it doesn't matter unless there is a fish at the end - that's ultimate proof. Can't wait to try in Aug.
Tight lines, Patrick

Lol - cheers fella. I guess I'm not a salmon, but they seemed to like the Gledswood last year - so I can only go on what I know. The Ewe Blue I've never tried - so it might look OK but could be sh**. Well I guess that's why I spend hours in the water trying to find out ;D ;D

Patrick

Thanks madkeen, never really fished a blue fly before - and only tied it because I wanted to cover off the potential of low, clear water. If the Dee is gin clear I'll give it a go. Who knows!! I like the look of the fly - but experience is everything - so any advice is welcome from yourself or any other forum members.
Tight lines,
Patrick

It will work Dr P, but if it's too slow to start for you I'll offer you a Blue Gledswood for £500 Ade
