Hi All, I was doing some experimenting today. I’ve seen Green Highlanders as tubes. I’ve also seen them as a traditional pattern on a single (technically way too complex for the likes of me - and if I could tie one, it would be on my wall!!!) – so I had a look for smaller versions and found a few examples – so was inspired to have a go (especially since Ade got 2 on the Dee in March). Ade has suggested a GP tail, anyone have any other recommendations. Haven't a clue how it fishes - or whether these colours would work - as I just used what was to hand. Thanks- and be gentle, it was only an experiment!! I'm thinking of some changes based on feedback - GP tail, swap the red floss for black and use Antron or flaired out red floss. Not tonight though as I have been in the pub. Heeds are big enough -with a few beers they'll be dreadful ;D ;D

And following feedback - swapped out red floss butt for a GP tail, red over yellow floss - so used a yellow floss butt prior to the Ostrich hearl (brushed out with a toothbrush), added a few strands of Orange buck with the green, swapped out the Chatreuse Artic Fox for Sunburst orange. Heads are rubbish but hey, that's how it goes. Photographed after a run under the tap - interesting to see that the yellow - or red butt makes little difference - the herl hides colour (as it would in the flow of a river). Anyway. experiment done. They'll be in the fly box in case the black, yellow, blue patterns aren't doing anything !! Thanks to all of you that provided feedback. Regards, Patrick

No the heads are heavy enough to bring them down ;D ;D I've had the US on the line asking if I can varnish their rockets so they can penetrate concrete Worst thing is - I was sober when I tied the second lot!!
