I wouldnt be worried about using ebay mate, theres a lot of good buys to be had. I generally try to buy off people with 100% feedback and a bit of history. It shows that they are regular users and can be trusted.
Just avoid people with low feedback scores or bad feedback and you'll be fine. If you do make a purchase you're not happy with you can raise a case against the seller to get the matter resolved.
Ebays a great way to buy old fishing gear.
