Real nice fly For the picture maybe try a slightly shorter shutter time or bigger F value if possible to keep the fly from getting overexposed (like f.i. the hook and some parts of the hackles in this one). You don't have to use a tripod but if you fix the fly it might help getting a sharper image as well. Just some idea's maybe to experiment with. I'm no photo expert but have had some good tips from people that know their way around a camera in the past Keep them coming

Thanks for the points about the photography, which aint a strong point of mine , but I hope to learn more over the winter months. This fly was tied and photo taken over a year ago, with a wee compact, and at the time I just pointed the camera and pressed the button. I wanted a dark background to show off the white tips of the badger hackle. Will experiment further with the photography and post more fly pics as I photograph them.
