I know a man who would love this fly Dave, since he's in Switzerland snowboarding he might miss this post, so do you have a recipe for it so I can tie a couple up for him?
What I mean is what red wool you used, and the rear hackle, what is that? Have you stripped a feather to the quill to make the feelers, if so what feather and do you bleach them?

The body in this one is not wool. It's 140 denier utc tying thread. The rear hackle is a fiery brown cock hackle. The feelers are stripped hackle stems from an old white cock cape the rostrum is tan calf tail, but you can use claret fox or cock pheasant tail feather fibres.

I like the brown feelers too, but I've only got good brown capes left at the moment, and don't want to be stripping them down I normally use 4 brown and 2 white. I don't like them with palmered hackles or front hackles though.. just my prefference

Looks a belting flea Dave, thanks for the info Must knock some up I'll also tie some on plastic tube and make them very small for Upper Farleyer in June I'm on the Tay ATB Ade
