Just been looking over the results on the Tweed so far this season.
There are two fishing days left.
I know there has been a fair bit of high water and that the early Spring run just is not there in any significant numbers compared to, say, 50 years ago
However, it must be a pretty poor February in terms of fresh fish caught so far.
The stats are from Beats that are reporting on Fishpal are:
Lower Tweed - 70 approx
Lower to Middle - 11 approx
The ratio of angling days to fish caught must be getting pretty grim at present. Which is a great pity for all involved in the fishings
I am no expert on trends on the Tweed but it seems to me the River's Main Spring run is moving about 6 - 8 weeks later than it used to be.
Is it a case of just waiting for the cycle to move or is there anything pro-active that could be done to help restore the Tweed to its former glory days in the early Spring?

There was a couple at Wark last month but not that size, 11lb is a good seatrout anywhere.

Loads of fish showing today new and old, water a bit black with the wee rise 50/50 fly and spinner should be good rest of week as weather settles down. The size quality of the fish has been amazing this month.
