Did the following for a Fly Swap on another forum. Been promising myself to try Irish Style Shrimps for a good while and it was time to put my money where my mouth was Here is the dressing: Hook - Size 6 Standard Double (Goodness knows how they do 14's) Thread - UTC White 70 Tag - Medium Oval Silver Tail - 2 GP Breast Feathers wound Rear Body - Yellow Seal's Fur 70% with 30% Ice Dub Hot Yellow Rib - Oval Silver Mid Hackle - Lemon Yellow Hackle Front Body - Black Seal's Fur Rib - Oval Silver Eyes - Jungle Front Hackle - Creamy Badger (all I could use, my Silver Badger is for 10-12's) Head - Tying Thread with Clear, Red and Clear Varnish as top coat. Basically, my interpretation of minitube's excellent Shrimps using what I could muster in terms of materials Here are some photo's of them I find tying the JC the absolute hardest part. Everything else was going well but the JC had me biting my tongue a few times - my Shrimps are getting better but I think I need to tie another 20 or 30 to get the swing of them. Might even try to catch a fish or two with them once Spring proper arrives. tweedbunnet

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
One thing about Shrimps is they are definitely character building.
Maybe I'll be doing Strip Wings next!

The secret with irish shrimps is, keep them sparse.
So many people overdress them, they look ok until they are throwin into the water and you soon find each wing, layers over the other and the body doesn't really shine threw.
A shrimp fly should "glow" in the water, when you tie one that glows, keep it for reference and copy it.
Even most of the shop bought shrimps don't have the glow I speak of, the real deal is few and far between.

Very Nice flies t.b its personal preference but i tend to exagerate the middle hackle, and reduce the front to make a slimmer more streamlined fly, I find they work better in the streamier runs tied like that.
Excellent spring pattern
