Lochy Trip

Well the eagerly awaited trip to the Lochy arrived with the sight of very low water and for the first two days - clear skies! In fact I had never personally seen the river so low and what with Fort William being one of the wettest places in the UK, was a tad disappointing, but we can't choose our weather/conditions.

So Mike, Sean, Brian and I put a brave face on it, and fished the river very hard. Stopping in the afternoon and returning in the evenings fishing on till dark, with little results for our concentrated efforts.

Sean did manage a very small grilse and dozens of quality trout and that was it. So another fishless report I'm afraid and here are a few pictures to show the magnificent surroundings and of course the low water conditions. We started off on Beat #4 then 1 and 2 to finish off our three days on the water.

Other than the craic and good wine, the trip was a very enjoyable one and can only hope we have the opportunity to take on the river with more water. Oh and some more fish!!

You better pray for a monsoon then Stevie as the Loch will be very low and they were at one point maybe shutting the gates from the Loch into the river to conserve water levels in the Loch

Looks a totally different river from when I was there last september Kenny!Too much water then and not enough now
Thats fishing though,you should have stuck a prawn through Big Rock! ;D

All we seen was empty bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale, wine and the odd vodka bottles from your last trip Toney ;D ;D ;D

We saw a few, whether they were pushing through is another matter, but generally it was very low and the river lacked fish in any decent quantity. Having said that, the first decent rise will surely push a load through and it will be a good time for the lucky anglers who happen to be there at the right time.
