There has been many threads on the various forums on whether to tape or not and I don't wish to flog this to death again, but I always do as I gives me peace of mind.
To illustrate that fact when fishing the Nith a few weeks ago, my mates top of his rod flew off and luckily he; 1. didn't break it where it would have hinged at the ferrul area 2. managed to get it back after a nail biting few moments to see if his fly would bring it back etc.
So it's always tape for me, but has anyone else had a near miss like this or god forbid, ruined a days fishing due the the section breaking when working loose?

Ialways tape rods withalmalgamating tape to be on the safe side but have come across plenty of younger guys who reckon you dont need to tape modern rods with overfit joints.I have both spigot and overfit joints on my rods and tape them both
