Does anyone know if Hardy has changed the drag on the new Cascapedia MKIII??
I had heard the original one was Sh*T*?
I heard that they had put the same system in the MKIII that the Zane has,dont know if it's true,and cant find any info on it.
Cheers PF.

A phone call to one of the hardy dealers would soon clear this up. Like you I've heard there were issues with the drag on these reels.

Ye i have heard similar tales of the original,that was the reason i dident buy one,but i like the look of them. The MKIII looks even better. But it's no good if jams,or the drag explodes.
If theres no info from here, thats my plan MK :;
Cheers PF.

I have fished with the MkII for the last three season and love the reel. Its well engineered, solid and will if required stop a bull elephant at full gallop...that said the drag system is very controllable. I usually fish off the reel with the drag set on 1 and will tighten to 3 to play fish. I find this is more than adequate.
You have to be quite deliberate to change the settings so i find it unlikely that you would be able to push them round to lock the reel up by rubbing on your jacket, however I am not suggesting that others have not experienced this, rather that i haven't.
I am very happy with my MKII Cascapedia and despite other fishermen singing the praises of more modern looking reels i would not be parted from it, making reels is something that Hardy do seem to still be able to do...(although I am toying with adding a Zane to the collection...just don't tell the wife)
