Guys, Where is the best place to get some plastic tubing for tube flies? I have some good heavy duty tubing but the internal dia. is to small to take a thinner tube to get the cone head attached. any help would be braw. Cheers.

Hi Craig,
I use the guideline fits tubing, and i know some of the guys on here use eumer tubing, if you don't want to use either of them, flymakers do a lot of different tubing, i'm sure there is a link for them on here some where.
Tony

craig the eumer stuff is £1.99 per 1m. i get it in somers here in aberdeen i use the small size small tubing and dress the fly on it and slide the cone down. burr the other end and use old school silicon tubing for the hook. saves buggering about with different diameters, which turns flytying into a light engineering project (edit: having said that the use of the 2 diameters helps create a fly with a stronger shape than you would get by dressing on one piece of thinnish liner. So it might be a better option for larger flies. the eumer tubing is very strong in my experience. the eumer small and med and large brass cones fit the small size of tubing. The cones have 2mm diameter bore. The large tungsten fits too- although for some reason they have reduced the bore of the med tungsten so it will only take x-small.

Spot on Ross I like my tubes as thin diameter as possible just imagine a size 6 hook shank that was 3mm thick. Not very suttle and probably scare the grilse.

I use 4mm scandi tubing from flymakers. it nicely accepts standard slipstream tube liner for adding cones, flymakers also stock stiff tubing down to 1.3mm outer diameter. Dave.
