Interested in your thoughts on this style of fly. The Owenmore was supposed to be one of the earliest hair wings, tied in maned style with small bunches of hair tied in along the top of the shank. I don't like the dressing but the style may be worth working with? It creates a strong silhouette You'll see that I made two yellow body sections in succession by mistake rather than alternate yellow/black. It is so time consuming to tie that I couldn't be bothered winding it back BnC

Looks nice Brian. There are a few in Chris Mann's book tied in this style, It looks great on the vice, but not sure how that sort of wing build up would swim in the water, as it doesn't create a taper in the wing to aid the swimming motion. Would be interested to see if it lies on it's side when it's swimming Worth the tying time though, looks great Dave.

A hybrid maned/templedog style black and yellow might be worth a go?

The hybrid idea is worth sticking with I reckon, as it will give the the best bits of the 2 styles of flies.
Would be worth seeing how this version swims first, it might be ok.

BnC
Just saw this one.
I would like to see how this one goes in that fancy swimming tank that is on the go.
Have any forum members got one of these tanks or used them?
