The Smith is a very old Tay flee and dates back to the 1800's. This Temple Dog pattern has caught quite a few springers for me Hope you like it, Tony Dressing, Tubes. any that take you're fancy. Tag. oval silver. Butt. glo-brite no11 floss. Tail. glo-brite multi-yarn no11 with no6 over. Hackle. fluorecent yellow. Body. in 3 parts, dubbed silver lite-brite then a fluorecent red hackle then dubbed silver lite-brite then a blue hackle then dubbed silver lite-brite. Hackle. guinie fowel. Wing. fiery brown and orange arctic fox mixed, blue goat with smolt blue krystal flash over, yellow arctic fox with yellow mirror flash over, red goat with red gliss'n'glo over. Cheeks. jungle cock. Head. black.

Very colourful fly and a good update of the original. I was looking at that fly in Frodin's book on classic salmon flies. He says that the Smith is one of the oldest flies associated with the Tay .

Thanks guys its a good pattern in the spring, i have had a fair few springers with it, i like it in march and april.
