Being snowed in today I looked to the vice to stop boredom. 1st a Willie Gunn type thing!! 2nd an Alistair, with e head you could use as a priest ;D ;D And thats the smallest head

Nice looking flies there. 2 patterns that will take fish all season long If you have trouble with the head size on your tubes and bottle tubes when using bucktail etc with no head hackle, make sure to add plenty of wax to your thread both under the hair and that securing the hair to prevent it slipping, then tie in with no more than half a dozen tight turns, no closer than 3 or 4 mm for the head end of the tube. then using a craft knife or stanley blade, trim the hair around 2mm from the end of the tube. wax your thread agin and tidy up the trimmed ends with thread, before covering the last couple of mm of the bare tube to balance the head. Wax and a sharp knife are the key to neat heads on tubes
