South Yorkshire Hijack 18th October 2010
Doncaster - Hi Jack/Kidnapping: At approximately 0200hrs on Thursday night a lorry driver, parked at the Skellow Services/Little Chef just beyond Junction 38 of the A1, was woken by his cab window being smashed. The driver was confronted by three masked attackers who demanded he hand over his freight - on board were approximately 8 tons or Barbour-style jackets. The driver was threatened with violence before being bound and kidnapped. He was restrained in his own vehicle and driven, by the assailants, to Knottingley where the load was transferred to awaiting vehicles. The victim was left bound in his cab, following the robbery. He eventually managed to escape and alert the authorities. A description of the three offenders is limited - they are suspected to be white, aged between 30-35yrs and of average build. All three were wearing black balaclava face masks. The victim received only minor physical injuries as a result of the attack but is emotionally traumatised by the events. Early apprehension of the offenders is essential - Police appeal for any leads on the sale of various styles and colours of these 'Barbour' jackets - or any witnesses to suspicious activity around the Little Chef-Service station area of this traditional trucker's stop (often know as the Leys Lane/White Rose stop) South Yorkshire Police Force Crime Team 0114 220 2020 or TruckPol You may also, annonymously if you wish, use our incident form to give information
