After the eurphoria of the last three days sit back and think is it worth the risk to take a week on the Tweed? The majority of the river is now knackered for the second half of the week. There has already been talk of the record catches leading to price hikes next year, but what about the all too frequent lost days, half weeks and full weeks.

I wonder how the guy who, on Monday night booked 2 Upper Floors rods for this Saturday is feeling looking at the rain forecast for Friday?

I,m sure the rods who fished the first 3 days are very happy with them selfs! But when they sobber up tomorrow morning they might have to think again ;D ;D ;D I think Tweed is way to expensive! But imagine if you turned up on a Tweed beat and had 23 Salmon to you're own rod in a day, like one of Malcolm's rods on the Lees on monday Worth it? Maybe

Like you, I think the Tweed is a huge gamble if you are booking fishing at this time of year, the more so if you are downstream of Boleside. It rises so quickly and takes 2-3 days to settle.
However, if you are in the right place at the right time, the fishing can be spectacular but you have to pay top dollar. By that, I mean up to £1000 plus a day. Way out of my league. Plus the fact that many beats do the 1 day, 3 rods or 3 days, 1 rod type of thing
I prefer the Upper beats from Glenormiston downwards where you have a fair chance of a fish at a reasonable price of about £50 to £80 a day. But if I win the lottery, it would have to be Upper Floors in March/April or late August/September for me. Some of the best fly water I have ever fished and a beautiful all round place to fish.

Aye its no cheap but market forces sort things out, if rods will pay the money the beats will sell it. No fishing the day on the lower river but I think there are a few out further upstream. We might have a chance tomorrow but sat looks out. Anyway it all keeps us gainfully employed for the year.
