Im being treated to a days fishing on Sat. I was going to fish the Applegarth beat on the Annan as I have a season ticket, but I was told to book a beat for the day!!! After a bit of looking I found this brocklerigg beat it is just upstream from Hoddom and directly below St mungo's. It hasnt been fishing comercially for long and is only 3/4 mile single bank with 5 pools. It is basically sindicate water which has in the last couple of years encouraged day tickets (or thats what Im lead to believe) Im so looking forward as it is fly only except when the mark is covered in the morn. So Ive no excuse for saying sod it and grabbing the spinner or the worms. Has anybody else fished here before? if so what was it like? Ive to call the farmer again tomorrow evening for a quick talk through the pools and a up to date on the river conditions. heres hoping for my 1st fly caught fish..
cheers john

Fished brocklerigg yesterday nice piece of water but need a few more inches to make it better. Seen a few grilse showing the other chap managed 2 fish the biggest about 7lbs both returned. I lost a Sea Trout or nice brown in the morn. And managed to hook my 1st salmon on the fly in the afternoon a bonnie wee split fresh Grilse just like a shinney new 10p piece. And promptly performed long range release as it rolled on the surface moments aftre bending the rod!!!! Im am gutted but its now a vendetta.
cheers john
