I have always liked the look of The Silver Doctor, whether it is Fully Dressed, Hairwing, Cascade or similar styles.
The red, yellow, blue and silver all combine to make a visually attractive fly for the angler and tyer.
However, has anyone been fishing with it this season? And if so, any successes? (Medicine and similar style flies excluded!)
I cannot recollect any reports of anyone landing a fish with a Silver Doctor.

Never ever used it and have never seen it being used. It's a smashing looking fly a bit like a silver Garry Dog. Silver is an underrated fish taker.

The Silver Doctor is a very underrated fly, nowadays everyone fishes with the fashion flee of the moment IE cascades and other long tailed flees. A lot of my tenents fish with traditional hair wing flees like the Silver Doctor, Blue Charm and likes with good results Tony

Do you think if you were fishing with a Silver stoats Tail, you would have caught as much? I suppose what I am asking is: Is the fly being used in certain conditions/times "that" important if the fish are on the feed, which evidently was the case on your session.

If the Cascade or Allys shrimp was never invented would catch returns be lower
