Here are a couple fo wee hairwing patterns I tied the other day. After messing around with the macartairs I found myself liking claret and decided to come up with a few of my own. simple wee patterns that should do the damage. This one is tied on a size 14 sawada double, has a claret gp topping tail, claret wing with red ice angel hair through. and a yellow squirell throat. oh and yellow jc This one is much the same only it has a yellow gp topping tail, and no flash in the wing. the other difference is the jc position, more on top with this one. hope you like them. Dave.

Great flies Dave, I'd think those would work well on a hot day What hair did you use in the wing?

Great flies Dave, I'd think those would work well on a hot day What hair did you use in the wing? Cheers Christian. The wings are just a nice soft claret bucktail, from the orvis prime northern bucktail range. they are very soft and very large tails. great value, and lovely to tie with. The flash is red ice angel hair. I also tie them with root beer calf tail which is a wee bit courser but looks nice, and works well in rougher water. It's the same one you use for the tail of the francis

Thanks Dave! Sounds like I'll have to have a look at the Orvis bucktail I love to mix in a few strands of angel hair in hairwings myself, very subtle but once in the water it really comes alive.
