The Atlantic Salmon Reserve in Russia is proud to present the “Mikael Frödin Master class” which represents a unique opportunity for anglers looking to unlock the secrets to success with salmon. A week of great fishing led by one of the world’s most experienced and respected salmon anglers. Mikael has well over 5000 fishing days around the world fishing all the top rivers. His successful formula has accounted for thousands of big salmon, with 19 over 40lbs.

This special week will not only be a great weeks fishing for visitors to the ASR but also a unique opportunity to learn more about the noble art of catching salmon on the fly. This week is a chance for a short cut many years of hard endeavour uncovering the mysteries of salmon fishing. A chance for you to become a better, more effective and knowledgeable salmon angler, in just a few days on the riverbank following his masterful guidance and coaching.

This is more than a regular fishing school, it’s a master class, a sharing of experience and thoughts and thinking on what makes your salmon fishing not only easier and more pleasant, but more effective, more interesting and even more fun. Every day the classy Kharlovka breakfast and dinner will be accompanied with a little speech, a power point presentation or a little film on different aspects of salmon fishing which will include for example:
- Scandinavian style of equipment; rods, lines, balanced shooting heads, leaders, looping lines and effective knots.
- Casting; modern style of under & overhand casting. Less effort, longer distance and more control in getting your fly to where you want it to go!
- Fishing strategy - Reading the river prior to fishing establishing where, when, why and how to outwit your noble quarry?
- Fishing techniques - Speed & depth, how and when? Controlling your fly, searching the perfect drift!
- Flies – What components make a great fly? Effective fly selection, when and why? How important is design, color, shape and size? When do I fish specific fly designs and why?
- Fly tying - Tying the modern tube fly; materials, techniques and simple tricks. Tying on big screen showing all the modern secrets I have learned over many years.
- Why do I lose the big ones – tips and tricks on how to hook, play, land and release the biggest salmon which you are likely to encounter during your fishing career.
Mikael Frödin will join you on the river every day, showing and sharing his experiences, giving each participants exclusive private coaching. The focus will be on strategy and techniques making you handle the situations in a more effective way.

There are two opportunities to join the “master class” at The Atlantic Salmon Reserve:
Week 23 –early June will focus on June fishing with high water, big fish tactics, sinking lines and bigger flies. Price on application
Week 35– Late August the focus will be on surface fishing with smaller flies, skater and dry flies. Price on application
